Living Room Furniture for Real Family Homes
The living room works hard. It hosts film nights, guests and lazy Sundays. Good furniture makes all of that easier. We choose pieces with sturdy frames, smooth runners and finishes that age well.
Start With the Centrepiece
Most layouts start with a coffee table. Measure your sofa first. A table about two thirds of its length looks balanced. Leave 40 to 45cm between the table and the seat for legroom.
Next, plan your media wall. Our TV units come in low, wide and compact styles. Pick a unit wider than your screen. It keeps the wall looking grounded.
Add Storage That Looks Good
Clutter spoils a calm room. Sideboards hide board games, chargers and paperwork. Bookcases and display cabinets show off books and favourite pieces. In a narrow room, try a slim console table behind the sofa.
Choose Your Finish
- Oak finishes – Horner, Newton and Oakham bring warmth to classic and Scandi rooms.
- Mango wood – the Tokyo range has a rich grain and modern lines.
- Reclaimed wood and metal – Collington and Christchurch suit loft and industrial looks.
- Marble tops – Olympia pairs white marble with a clean frame.
Pieces from one range give a joined-up look. Mixing works too. Just keep one tone, such as warm wood, running through the room.
Finishing Touches
Side tables keep drinks and lamps within reach. Browse our lamp tables for every corner. Then layer in lamps, cushions and throws for comfort.

How do I choose the right size coffee table?
Aim for about two thirds of your sofa's length. Leave 40 to 45cm between the table and the sofa so people can move easily.
Can I mix wood finishes in one living room?
Yes. Keep one main tone, such as warm oak, then add one contrast like black metal or white marble. Two or three finishes is usually enough.
