McRoberts Kitchen
Transforming a galley kitchen into a stylish and functional space can be a delightful challenge. Recently, we had the opportunity to work on a project that perfectly demonstrates how thoughtful design can enhance both the aesthetic and practicality of a compact kitchen. This particular kitchen features dark blue base units, oak worktops and upstands, brass handles, wall sockets, and a matching brass tap. By eliminating wall units, our customer aimed to create a more open and spacious feel while ensuring ample storage. Here’s how we achieved this transformation.
The Vision
Our customer envisioned a sleek, modern galley kitchen that balanced elegance with functionality. She opted for dark blue base units to bring a rich, sophisticated look to the space. To add warmth and contrast, she chose oak worktops and upstands. The brass handles, wall sockets, and tap added a touch of luxury, tying the design elements together. The decision to forego wall units was driven by a desire to make the room feel bigger and more open.
Dark Blue Base Units
The foundation of this kitchen's design is the stunning dark blue base units. The deep hue provides a sense of depth and richness, creating a bold statement while maintaining a sleek and modern appearance. The base units were crafted to maximize storage without compromising on style, ensuring that all essentials could be neatly organized.
The dark blue color brought a contemporary edge to the kitchen, contrasting beautifully with the natural warmth of the oak worktops and upstands. This combination created a visually appealing and balanced aesthetic.
Warmth and Elegance with Oak Worktops and Upstands
The oak worktops and upstands were chosen to complement the dark blue base units. The natural grain and warm tones of the oak added a touch of rustic charm, creating a harmonious balance with the sleek, dark cabinetry. Oak is not only beautiful but also durable, making it an ideal choice for a busy kitchen.
The upstands provided a seamless transition between the worktops and the walls, enhancing the overall cohesion of the design. The combination of dark blue and oak created a timeless look that is both stylish and practical.
Touches of Luxury with Brass Accents
To elevate the design, the customer selected brass handles, wall sockets, and a tap. These brass accents added a luxurious touch, bringing warmth and elegance to the kitchen. The brass handles provided a striking contrast against the dark blue units, while the brass wall sockets and tap added a cohesive and polished look.
The inclusion of brass elements not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also provided practical benefits. Brass is known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, making it a smart choice for kitchen fixtures.
